Once again the Pacific Coast YSR Club, under the able leadership of Monica and Grant Grinnell, put on a great show in the 7th Annual Can-Am Classic. As always, the Canucks were pitted in heated mini road racing battle against the Yanks. The Canucks were represented quite ably by a large contingent from British Columbia along with quite a group from Calgary, and one lone rider from Toronto. The Yanks, on the other hand, had riders from Washington, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, California etc. The American strategy being "If you can't beat them with skill, beat them with numbers!" Well.....for the 7th year in a row, it worked! Also, for the 7th year in a row, the Canucks have chosen a tasteless Logo depicting the Canadian Beaver in a disgusting pose dis-respecting the American Flag. For this reason alone, an American Victory was required...and delivered. Mom, apple pie, and Chevrolet, must be respected! Will the Canucks never learn? As this is written, I hear them crying (in their high alcohol content) beer, "Wait 'till next year, eh? We will rally in our Toques, heal all gibbled limbs, and dazzle those damn yanks with con-fuffleness along with fire breathing ysrs, eh?" NOT! The evening activity was severely limited this year. Seems there are neighbors about a quarter mile away from the track who objected to the noise! Now you gotta love this. Check it out: This track is located adjacent, and yes I mean right next to not even a chain link fence separating, from an airport runway! I find it hard to believe that fun loving ysr racers make more noise than a jet plane taking off and/or landing. Not to mention constant helicopter and hang gliders with motors coming and going. Man, those ysr are sure loud! In spite of the restrictions, there was a potato gun contest, and lot's of music, and on Saturday night an unexpected midnight "couples only" semi-naked track ride. In other words, Wenatchee was Wenatchee. Lot's of really good racing, lot's of comraderie, lot's of new friends, lot's of old friends, and one helluva good time. YSR Racing as it should be. |
